Grant Ideas

Do you have a great idea for a project related to Gender Equality? Let us know what it is and we could give you up to $500 to make it happen.

Here are examples of other ideas we liked.

Start a motivational club for girls.
Many organizations exist to help young women and girls to realize their power. Affiliate with an existing one or tell us how you'd like to start your own. Consider starting each meeting with opportunities for journaling/reflection, group sharing and private counseling. Help participants learn skills, interface with strong women role models (i.e. business people, politicians, community leaders, etc.), get involved in leadership activities and/or find local internships.
Provide computer training to needy women.
Solid computer skills are a must in today's workplace. Yet many people don't yet have the skills that would qualify them for higher paying jobs. Partner with a community organization that has computers (i.e. library, safe house, homeless shelter, etc.) and teach these skills to their users.
Help girls create their own businesses.
The younger you're exposed to the basics of business, the more likely you'll feel comfortable taking a leadership role in business later in life. Help tweens and teens become comfortable with business basics by supporting their efforts to select a product/service, source raw materials/willing labor, produce and offer the product/service. Recognize the need to do marketing, accounting and production tasks too.
Support a female entrepreneur on Kiva.
Kiva is a micro-lending organization that provides the ability to make small loans to micro-enterprises around the world—and it now supports new entrepreneurs in California. Find a user with a story and a mission that you like and fund their business. Encourage others to do the same.
